Shay Given is still struggling with injury problems lately. There was no sign he will recover in the near future.
But the Irish national team will still put in a squad that went to
Poland and Ukraine for Euro 2012.
"Shay Given will go to London tomorrow to visit a specialist who has had a knee injury he visited in the past," said spokesman bicra Irish Football Federation on Thursday (24/5).
"He will return to Portmarnock in the afternoon. All this is a precautionary measure and Shay will continue to play in the European Cup," the assertion.
Ireland still has two alternate goalkeeper, the Sunderland goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and David Forde of Millwall.
