Injury, Shay Given Ireland's Permanent Defended

Shay Given is still struggling with injury problems lately. There was no sign he will recover in the near future. But the Irish national team will still put in a squad that went to Poland and Ukraine for Euro 2012.

"Shay Given will go to London tomorrow to visit a specialist who has had a knee injury he visited in the past," said spokesman bicra Irish Football Federation on Thursday (24/5). "He will return to Portmarnock in the afternoon. All this is a precautionary measure and Shay will continue to play in the European Cup," the assertion. Ireland still has two alternate goalkeeper, the Sunderland goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and David Forde of Millwall.
