Xavi: Italy No Longer Catenaccio

Italy are expected to use defensive tactics when facing Spain tonight. However, Xavi Hernandez assess the Azzurri will not play like that because they are no longer "know" catenaccio. Catenaccio latch or football is the hallmark of Italian since Helenio Herrera was first introduced when dealing with Inter Milan in the 60's era. Stick with that style Italian hegemony in the world of football with four World Cup titles and is respected as one strong team.

But arguably over time and the influence of modern football, the force is gradually becoming obsolete. Especially since the Italian national team is held by Cesare Prandelli attacking style of football that had. It marked the attacking 4-3-3 formation which is always used Prandelli in every game, including possible when diving Cup Group C opening match cons defending champions Spain. But using these strategies and against a team like Spain is a risky course for Italy. However, Xavi Italian judge will not play defensively just to win. Antonio Cassano he believes will serve the game cs tiki-taka Spain because it is currently not Catenaccio Italian style again. "Italy has changed their system. Now the teams are more likely to play ball with diamond formation system and Andrea Pirlo are outstanding players in the scheme," Xavi analysis on Football Italia. "They also have two great strikers like Mario Balotelli and Antonio Cassano. They no longer stand out in the back as the era of 'Catenaccio'," he continued. "They are now trying to play ball and take the initiative to attack, because they have the players to do it. We will see an entertaining game tomorrow (tonight - red). It will not be a one-sided match in which they survive and we continue to control ball, "he concluded.
