Germany will start the group stage of Euro 2012 with a face of the other giants in the Blue Continent. Although located in the toughest group, Per Mertesacker believes his country will reap success.
Germany has had to meet the Netherlands and Portugal in the European Cup group stages. Do not forget also, in Group B that Denmark still has a chance to be a dark horse.
With such a situation, Der Panzer certainly be working hard since the beginning of the tournament. Joachim Loew made by the team is certainly not going to lift a suitcase earlier.
"This is the toughest group in Euro, but we have good experience in the last few tournaments," said Mertesacker, referring to his team's success through the 2008 European Cup final and the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup, told Sky Sports.
"Therefore, we strongly believe in ourselves and hopefully we can do a good job," said the Arsenal defender.
Unfortunately, the preparation of Germany to the European Cup not too smooth. In the last test match, they lost 3-5 from Switzerland.
"Yesterday was disappointing for us, but we focus on the tournament. That's still two weeks away and I think we'll be in good shape," said Mertesacker.
