Jermain Defoe collected 11 goals in 25 matches in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur, and determined to fly to Poland and Ukraine after his name was included in the final squad announced by new England coach Roy Hodgson.
However, the uncertain situation in the club makes Defoe started thinking about his future in order to get regular performance opportunities.
"It's a difficult situation. I never said he wanted to leave the club, I'm saying is I want to play," said Defoe told talkSport.
"As a striker you want to get a rhythm and a chance in the team. And this is not obtained until the end of the season."
"I will concentrate on the UK and set out to Euros, then we see what happens.
Most important thing for me is to score goals and it makes me happiest in the level," he added.
Spurs finish in the top four Premier League standings and could have strolled into the Champions League qualifiers, but Chelsea's dramatic victory over Bayern Munich in the final Harry Redknapp makes this team had to succumb to compete in the Europa League.
This situation further strengthens the speculation departure of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric who was targeted by a large team and Defoe insists the club must maintain them at White Hart Lane.
"In football you never know what will happen, but it's always important to maintain a top player. Players like Modric and Bale including an irreplaceable player, so it is important to maintain them," he concluded.
