Barry Ascertained Absence in Euro

The bad news is received before the convening England Euro 2012. 'Three Lions' Gareth Barry likely to be lost due to injury while performing in a trial match against Norway. Barry came on Steven Gerrard in the gap before finally being replaced by Jordan Henderson in a match that ended with England winning 1-0.

After undergoing a scan on Monday (05/28/2012) local time, the Manchester City midfielder is known to have torn muscle in the lower abdomen. Quoted Four Four Two, Everton defender Phil Jagielka has been called in to replace Barry in the squad who will perform in Poland, Ukraine, next week. "I am very disappointed to lose Gareth, not just because he's one of the original members of the squad containing 23 players but has also frequently appeared for the England team in recent years," said English coach Roy Hodgson in a statement released by the FA. "I know how much he wanted to be part of the tournament but I'm sure he'll still have a chance to play for England after the European Cup. I wish him a speedy recovery."
