Tough opponents are waiting for the Netherlands at Euro 2012. That's why the Dutch captain Mark van Bommel has demanded his team can perform better.
In May of this test match series ahead of the event have acted in the Netherlands this summer. The result, Oranje lost to Bayern Munich club and national team of Bulgaria, before finally winning 2-0 by Slovakia.
"We are satisfied with the outcome (as opposed to Slovakia) but our performance could be improved. We must learn from our mistakes because mistakes like that should not be repeated in the 2012 European Cup," said Van Bommel to SBS6 that was launched by ESPN Star.
Being in group B which contains a fierce opponents such as Germany, Portugal, and Denmark that is touted as the "Group of Hell", the Dutch certainly should not be complacent. Fortunately, judging from the victory over Slovakia, van Bommel to assess his team have demonstrated the potential to perform more okay.
"I think we are headed in the right direction. We are more threatening than the wing sector and there is also a goal of the first born," added the collectors of 76 caps for the Netherlands.
